Kate Middleton receives flowers from Prince William, onlookers on Valentine's Day

Though Kate Middleton may have spent Valentine's Day without her husband, Prince William, she got plenty of flowers to make up for it.

The Duchess of Cambridge was greeted by the people of Liverpool on a visit to Alder Hay Children's Hospital, reports People Magazine . Many members of the crowd gave Middleton flowers as she greeted them. Dressed in a brown overcoat and Niki McDonough earrings, she spent approximately 20 minutes at the children's hospital.

Onlooker Lyndsey MacLean said of meeting Middleton, "She was brilliant. You wouldn't think that she had been doing this for such a short time. She was friendly to everyone."

Earlier in the day, her royal highness paid a visit to Action on Addiction, which is one of the charities of which she became a patron. US Magazine announced the four charities Middleton had chosen early in January. The other three charities chosen were East Anglia's Children's Hospices, The Art Room, and the National Portrait Gallery. At that time, it was also revealed that Middleton would volunteer with the Scout Association.
